[LYRICS] TOKIO - switch

From the Hontontoko/Future single, released in 2013
Lyrics & Composition by Tatsuya Yamaguchi

KANJI
Wow
Wow

Wow
Yeah×5 Definitely!

Wow
Yeah×5 Precisely

Wow wow

Wow
Yeah×5 Definitely!

ENGLISH
No matter how far I am
No matter how far it might be

The carving needle of my heartbeat keeps spinning
And no matter how strong the wind is from far away, I feel I can go even farther
Everything is different from yesterday, like the way the clouds are cut
And because the city moves too quickly, I try to jump over it

If only we could realise how much we feel what we feel
Then everything will be clearer and simpler
And look, maybe what we yearn for isn't really what we yearn for
All the wisdom you've collected so far
And all you know of the earth you love
What do you think would happen if you let it all fly away in the wind?

No matter how far I am
I'm sure it'll become reality
That there's a rusty switch to turn on for us to smile from the heart again
Yeah×5 Definitely!

The carving needle of time refuses to stop
And I can't see what tomorrow might bring, so I take a look at the sky instead

There's only one thing to do in a time like this
And that's to fix what's wrong with us
The things that we yearn for, the yearning after the yearning
All the thoughts that fill you
All the worries you might have
Throw them into the air with a "sayonara"

No matter how far it might be
There'll always be something by your side
Something fragile, something so sweet it makes you tremble
Yeah×5 Precisely

Wow fu It keeps reverberating Wow
Surely, this is the gentleness of the gods

No matter how far I am
I'm sure it'll become reality
That there's a rusty switch to turn on for us to smile from the heart again
Yeah×5 Definitely!

For the pet project, again.

switch makes my soul feel light. I don't know, it has that ~*~start from the ground up~*~ feeling about it, and given that it was written at a time Tomoya was writing particularly heart-wrenching songs (i.e. Can we... and Lyric), and the fact that Tatsuya wrote this for a single that's predominantly Tomoya's single, it makes me think a bunch of other heartbreaking things.

Like many of Tatsuya's other songs, switch has a bunch of imagery/language that I can't translate very well, so I'm definitely coming back to this later. That man is so COMPLICATED.
